Save the Date Cards
Save the date cards are usually sent six to eight months before the wedding. For international and destination ceremonies, we recommend sending save the date cards up to a year before the wedding. It is not necessary for save the date cards to match your wedding invitation suite – feel free to mix it up, and have fun with it!
Wedding Invitations
Traditionally, wedding invitations are sent out about two months before the wedding. If you have a calligrapher, check with them to see how much time they need. When ordering, give yourself enough time for delivery, and consider the time that will be needed to address the invitations. It is crucial to know how many people will be attending, so make sure to leave enough time to get back those RSVP cards early! Check with your hotel to see when you need to give them final numbers but usually RSVP date is set at least 3 weeks before your wedding date so that you have enough time for place cards and table seating charts. Order a few extra invitations and envelopes for last-minute invites and personal keepsakes.
Thank You Cards
General etiquette dictates that you should send out your post wedding thank you cards within a month or two of returning from honeymoon. Also its a good idea to get them done while you are still on a post wedding high, otherwise it will be a really difficult task. Most guests will understand if you leave it a little longer, especially if you are waiting to get your photographs from your photographer so that you can use them . Do send a thank you card to wedding guests who didn’t attend the wedding but did send a gift or card.
